Bought this for duck hunting accidentally brought this coat for a late season fly fishing trip it was in my gear bag left over from the hunting season great mistake out performs my sims wader coat hands down this will be my go to for fly fishing and hunting want a wading coat for duck hunting and fly fishing this is the one the water proof cuffs out performed my sims 10 to 1. The comfort of the hand warmer pockets were what sold me on this jacket, but it's the most versatile piece I own in my mind. Inevitably I ended up put stuff in them but the magnets weren't strong enough to hold anything back and thus everything I put in the jacket at some point fell out, not good when you're around water. If you want to use this jacket later in the season, you will want to roll in the duck oven. Additionally, the inside of the hood is grey which isn't a problem when I'm wearing the hood, but when I'm not, it would be nice to have the pattern matching (this probably doesn't matter all that much but hey if I'm going for concealment I may as well go all out). I ordered the XXXL to see if the added chest size and 1/2 inch in arm length help. |
I’m 5’10” 250lbs and I ordered the XL in this jacket and it fits nicely. Finding a shell that could meet the technical needs of a full season of waterfowl hunting was damn-near impossible. If it wasn't raining this weekend i would have to take my calls off the lanyard and put them on another lanyard. I have been thoroughly impressed with this jacket. They are NOT insulated though so you will have to layer up. The waders integrate insulated Lacrosse boots with a breathable 4-layer GORE-TEXPRO laminate. Sometimes in the early season, it's real steamy, and I only want to wear my base layer, so being able to swap my calls over seamlessly would be awesome.Lastly, and this is the ultimate of splitting hairs, but larger zipper pulls would be helpful. Could not be happier with the weight, cut, and fit of the Delta wading jacket. It is well made and a very good design, except for the two front "billow" pockets. It's fit and packability are amazing.
